| And this is how I understand the theory, not necessarily if it is valid. From the factory the car has precats, which slow down the flow of (or back up) the exhaust gasses leaving the turbo, thus backpressure. The turbo seals are 'used to' this backpressure. Now when the precats are removed, especially in conjunction with main cat removal, all of a sudden there is no more back pressure. Now there is more vacuum actually pulling on the seals and wearing them out causing premature failure. Again, that is how I understand the theory. I have been told by Greg Dupree that this is not necessarily the case and that there is no reason to worry about the seals going out when DPs and TPs are installed.
